Mike’s case wasn’t about a one-size-fits-all approach. Our care team meticulously reviewed his physiotherapy regime, liaising with the therapists on how we can best support his exercise and activity goals. Armed with this insight, the care team were then able to fully brief and assist the support team to ensure Mike’ physio program was integral to the main focus and priority of his care, while always tailoring the support to his evolving needs and requirements. Ongoing support and encouragement throughout every exercise and celebrating every milestone. No matter how small, it was so important.

The journey wasn’t always easy. There were setbacks, moments of frustration, and even days where progress seemed slow. However, our entire team from our Care Team leader, care coordinators and support workers worked in collaboration and remained by Mike’s side, throughout his rehab journey and offering a steady hand when needed.

Fast forward to today, and Mike’s story is one of remarkable transformation. He’s no longer confined to his home. He’s walking, confidently accessing his community, and rediscovering the joy of independence. To having to travel only by wheelchair taxi, to now be able to walk up and down stairs unaided is truly remarkable and opens up a new world of exploration and access to Mike.

Mike’s newfound confidence extends beyond his physical capabilities. He feels empowered to take control of his life. With the support of our team, he’s even exploring the possibility of transitioning to private housing – a testament to his newfound independence.
