The National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA) has released its new three-year NDIS pricing workplan, outlining how NDIS pricing will be reviewed and improved over the coming years.

This workplan aims to strengthen participant outcomes, support market sustainability, and ensure NDIS services remain reliable, high-quality and accessible across Australia.

Three-Year NDIS Pricing

What Is the NDIA Three-Year Pricing Workplan?

The NDIA pricing workplan sets out a sequenced, evidence-based approach to improving how NDIS prices are set and adjusted over the next three years. Rather than making sudden or broad pricing changes, the NDIA will:

  • Use data, research and consultation
  • Test changes through pilots and targeted actions
  • Build improvements progressively over time

This approach is designed to balance immediate market pressures with long-term stability for participants and providers.

Why NDIS Pricing Reform Matters

NDIS pricing plays a critical role in:

  • Service availability and choice
  • Workforce stability
  • Quality and consistency of supports
  • Provider sustainability

When pricing does not reflect real service costs, participants may experience service gaps or disruptions. This workplan aims to address those challenges while ensuring pricing decisions remain fair, transparent, and evidence-based.

A Staged Approach to Pricing Improvements

Year One: Targeted Improvements

In the first year, the NDIA will introduce targeted pricing changes where evidence already supports early action. This helps respond to immediate pressures in the NDIS market while maintaining system stability.

Building Foundations for the Future.

Alongside early improvements, the NDIA will invest in:

  • Research and data analysis
  • Pilot programs
  • Deeper understanding of service delivery costs

These foundations will guide future pricing decisions.

Continuous Improvement Over Three Years

Each year builds on the evidence and progress of the previous year, allowing for ongoing refinement and improvement rather than one-off changes.
