Help at Hand Support recently attended the Geelong Community Disability Expo, hosted by Disability Events Community.
What a day. The Geelong Disability Expo 2026 was everything a community event should be — warm, welcoming, and full of the kind of genuine conversations that remind us why we do this work. The Help at Hand Support Services team was proud to be part of it, and we came away energised, inspired, and with a long list of amazing new connections.
Whether you came to our stand for a chat, spotted us across the room, or simply bumped into us over a coffee — thank you. Days like today are exactly why showing up in the community matters and makes it a welcoming place to ask questions and build knowledge and confidence.
The Vibe Was Set From the Start
From the moment we arrived, the atmosphere was electric. A live band set the tone beautifully (see photos below) — there’s something about live music that instantly makes a space feel alive and inviting. It cut through the usual expo buzz and gave the whole day a genuinely festive feel. Participants, families, support workers, and providers were all moving and smiling, and it made every conversation just a little warmer.
It’s a small touch that makes a big difference, and it absolutely nailed the brief of making people feel welcome the moment they walked through the door.
Fuelled by Fantastic Coffee — Thanks, VMCH!
A huge shoutout to the team at VMCH for keeping everyone caffeinated throughout the day. The coffee was genuinely great, and the VMCH crew brought the same warmth and care to the coffee station that they bring to everything they do. There’s nothing quite like a quality flat white to break the ice and get a conversation flowing — and it worked a treat.
If you haven’t connected with the VMCH team before, we’d highly recommend it. It was wonderful to share a space with an organisation that clearly shares the same values around community, dignity, and genuine support.
We ourselves had a delicious Mocha and small Cap and they were hot and tasty!
Real Connections With Participants and Families
At the heart of every expo is the chance to connect with the people who matter most — NDIS participants and their families. Today did not disappoint. We had so many meaningful conversations with participants who were exploring their options, asking great questions, and genuinely engaging with what Help at Hand has to offer.
It was a reminder of how important it is to be present in the community — not just online, but in person, face to face, where people can look you in the eye and get a real sense of who you are and what you stand for. That’s something no brochure or website can fully replace.
To every participant and family member we spoke with today — thank you for your time and your trust. If you walked away with any questions or want to continue the conversation, our team is always here.
Meeting Amazing Providers Across the Sector
One of the best things about events like this is the opportunity to connect with fellow providers. The Geelong expo had a fantastic mix of organisations across the disability sector, and the energy in the room was genuinely collaborative. Everyone was friendly, open, and committed to the same goal: making life better for the people they support.
We came away with a wealth of new connections, a deeper appreciation of what’s happening across the Geelong region, and a renewed sense of the strength of this sector when it works together. The disability community in Victoria is full of passionate, dedicated people. It was great to build real connections with providers who are local.

How Does This Connect to Ongoing NDIS Support
Events like the Geelong Community Disability Expo allows our team from Help at Hand Support to connect directly with participants, families and carers outside of everyday supports. These conversations help us better understand individual goals and continue delivering personalised, flexible NDIS services that align with each participant’s needs.
