What is the EAC?
As part of the NDIS 2024–25 Budget, a new committee, the EAC, has been introduced to support evidence-based decision-making in NDIS.
The EAC’s role is to advice the Australian Government on whether specific supports are:
- Safe
- Cost-effective
- Suitable for NDIS Funding
This means the committee will review and access therapies, services, and support categories to ensure they deliver real-world benefits for people with disability, based on the best available evidence.
Why was EAC formed?
The EAC was formed in response to the recent NDIS Review, which highlighted the need for:
- A more sustainable NDIS
- A focus on quality outcomes for participants
- Improved transparency and accountability in NDIS funding decisions
Ultimately, the EAC supports the goal of building a stronger, fairer, and more participant-focused NDIS, one that works better now and for future generations.

How will the EAC affect NDIS Participants?
The introduction of the EAC means that some supports, including therapies and capacity-building services, may come under review to assess their effectiveness, value, and impact.
However, it’s important to note:
- Your individual funding and support providers will not be affecated
- The lived experiences of people with disability will continue to inform and guide decision-making
- The changes aim to enhance outcomes, not restrict access
