Help at Hand Support Services recently attended the Toowoomba Community Disability Expo on 04 June 2026, hosted by Disability Events Community and proudly sponsored by Beyond Mobility.

The event brought together participants, families, carers, support workers, support coordinators and disability providers from across the region for a day focused on connection, learning and community engagement. It was another fantastic opportunity to meet people face-to-face, share information about available supports and strengthen relationships within the local disability community.

A Venue That Made an Impression

From the moment we arrived at the Highfields Cultural Centre, it was clear this was a venue with something special to offer. Tucked away within lush, treed surrounds just north of Toowoomba, the Centre has a warmth and character that immediately puts you at ease — a proper community and events hub that feels both welcoming and purposeful.

Purpose-built to cater for everything from conferences and trade shows to theatrical performances, the space carries a sense of versatility without ever feeling generic. The high ceilings, theatrical lighting and quality sound system gave the event a real sense of occasion — the kind of setting that lifts the energy in the room and signals to everyone in attendance that something worthwhile is happening here.

Coffee, Courtesy of ME/CFS & FM Queensland

A special thank you to ME/CFS & FM Queensland for sponsoring free barista-made coffee for the first 200 attendees. The coffee station quickly became a popular meeting point and helped create a relaxed atmosphere where conversations flowed naturally.

These simple moments often lead to valuable connections, making community expos about much more than information stalls alone.

A Strong Community Turnout

From the beginning of the day, there was a steady stream of attendees eager to explore the wide range of services and supports on display. Participants and families took the opportunity to speak directly with providers, ask questions and learn more about the resources available to help them achieve their goals.

The expo created a welcoming environment where meaningful conversations could take place and where people felt comfortable seeking information tailored to their individual needs.

A Diverse Range of Services on Display

The expo featured a broad range of disability providers, community organisations and support services, creating a one-stop destination for attendees looking to explore their options.

From assistive technology and specialist services to community participation and in-home supports, there was something for everyone. The variety of exhibitors highlighted the many pathways available to participants as they work towards greater independence and quality of life.

Networking Across the Sector

The event also provided an excellent opportunity for disability professionals to connect with one another. Support coordinators, providers and industry representatives spent time sharing ideas, building relationships and discussing ways to better support participants within the community.

Strong collaboration across the sector plays an important role in delivering positive outcomes, and it was encouraging to see so many professionals actively engaging throughout the day.

How Does This Connect to Ongoing NDIS Support?

Our Help at Hand Support Services team attends events like the Toowoomba Community Disability Expo to strengthen our connections with local communities and better understand the needs of participants across Australia. Events like this support ongoing NDIS delivery by encouraging open conversations, informed choice, and the long-term, tailored support that helps people live their best lives.

Whether someone is new to the NDIS, exploring support options or looking to build stronger community connections, these events help create opportunities for informed decisions and meaningful support relationships that extend well beyond the expo itself.
