Help at Hand Support Services recently attended the Sunshine Coast Community Disability Expo, hosted by Disability Events Community.
The Sunshine Coast Community Disability Expo for 2026 has come and gone, and what a day it was. Help at Hand Support Services was proud to be part of this wonderful event, sponsored by the amazing team at Maroochy Home Assist and made possible by Disability Events Community — and we left the Sunshine Coast with full hearts and plenty of new connections.
If you were there on the day, you already know what the energy was like. If you missed it, here’s a little taste of what went down.
A Venue That Made an Impression
Venue 114 in Bokarina was a fantastic choice for an event of this kind — and it showed. Overlooking Lake Kawana, Venue 114 is renowned for delivering professional and authentic event experiences on the Sunshine Coast, with fifteen distinctive spaces that cater for everything from expos to galas to intimate gatherings.
The layout worked beautifully for an expo of this scale — wheelchair accessible, with polished timber floors, a courtyard it was clear no detail had been overlooked. Kudos to the DEC team for choosing a venue that felt both welcoming and professional. It set exactly the right tone for a day built around connection, inclusion, and community
Coffee, Courtesy of Plan Partners
A special thank you to Plan Partners, who kept the first 200 attendees well-caffeinated with complimentary barista-made coffees on the day. It sounds like a small thing, but anyone who’s attended one of these expos knows what a good coffee station does for the atmosphere. It gives people a reason to slow down, linger, and strike up a conversation — and some of the best connections of the day happen exactly that way.
Exhibitors, Assistive Technology, and Expert Guidance
One of the standout features of the Sunshine Coast expo was the sheer range and quality of providers in attendance. Across the floor, attendees could explore assistive technologies, ask questions of support service providers, get expert guidance on their NDIS goals, and discover local supports they may not have known existed.
For participants and families who sometimes feel overwhelmed by the size and complexity of the NDIS, events like this are genuinely empowering. Having so many knowledgeable people in one room — all there specifically to help — changes the conversation entirely.
Connecting With the Sunshine Coast Community
What stood out most for our team was the quality of the conversations we had. People came to our stand with real questions, real goals, and real stories — and that’s exactly the kind of engagement that reminds us why community events like this matter so much.
We also had the opportunity to connect with fellow providers and NDIS professionals from across the Sunshine Coast region. The networking opportunities at these expos are invaluable, not just for us as a business, but for the sector as a whole. When providers, coordinators, and allied health professionals know and trust each other, participants get better outcomes. It really is that simple.
Thank You to Everyone Who Came
To every participant, carer, family member, support coordinator, and provider who made the journey to the Sunshine Coast Community Disability Expo — thank you. Your presence is what makes these events worth running.
And to Disability Events Community thank you for putting together such a well-organised, inclusive, and genuinely impactful event. The work you do to bring these expos to communities across Queensland does not go unnoticed.
