If you’re a NDIS participant, a family member, or a support coordinator, you may have heard that the NDIS pricing update for 2026–27 has just been released. Every year, the National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA) reviews and publishes updated price guidance that affects how NDIS supports are delivered and funded across Australia — and this year’s update comes with some important changes worth understanding.

At Help at Hand Support Services, we stay across every NDIS pricing update, so you don’t have to. This guide breaks down what’s changed in the 2026–27 NDIS pricing schedule, what it means for your plan, and what steps — if any — you need to take.
Why is this Happening?
Each year, the NDIA conducts an Annual Pricing Review to ensure recommended support prices reflect real-world costs — wages, cost of living, and Fair Work Commission decisions. This year’s review also comes alongside a proposed legislative change that could fundamentally shift how NDIS pricing is set in Australia.
“You must discuss proposed changes to existing service agreements with participants. Participants must agree to the changes before they are made.”

The Key Changes for 2026-27
1. New Pricing Schedule Effective from 1 July 2026
The updated NDIS pricing schedule is now in effect. It includes revised support item numbers, updated names, and new recommended maximum prices across national, remote, and very remote locations. Providers may begin using these prices immediately.
2. A Proposed Minister’s Pricing Determination Power
On 14 May 2026, the NDIS Amendment (Securing the NDIS for Future Generations) Bill 2026 was introduced into Parliament. If passed, it would give the Minister for the NDIS the power to formally set pricing limits by law — a shift from the current guidance-only model. The 2026–27 APR is expected to inform any such ministerial advice.
3. Wage and Cost-of-Living Adjustments
Recommended prices continue to reflect movements in support worker wages aligned to the Fair Work Commission, and updated costs for psychologists, nurses, and other allied health professionals.
4. Support Item Catalogue Updates
Several support items have been revised, including updated Assistive Technology and Home Modifications codes, and revised prices for Art Therapists and Music Therapists following an independent review. The COVID Addendum and related items have been removed permanently.

What This Means for Participants and Providers
For Participants
The new pricing schedule sets the maximum your registered provider can charge — not a minimum. Your current pricing may not change at all. Any proposed change to your service agreement must be discussed with you first, and your agreement is required before anything takes effect. If you’re unsure whether you’re affected, contact your provider or support coordinator.
For Providers
The 2026–27 APR report and updated pricing schedule are available for download from the NDIS website. Review the updated support item numbers and recommended maximums carefully. If the proposed Bill passes, pricing will shift from guidance to a formal legislative determination — preparation now is prudent.
Our View
The NDIS was built on a genuine commitment: that Australians living with significant disability deserve tailored, funded support to live full and meaningful lives. Annual pricing reviews are part of keeping that commitment grounded in reality.
The proposed legislative shift on pricing is worth watching. Moving from guidance to ministerial determination changes the nature of how prices are set, and we will be following that Bill closely as it moves through Parliament.
At Help at Hand Support Services, we review every pricing update as soon as it is released. If any change affects your service agreement with us, we will contact you directly. You will never be left to work that out on your own.
If you have questions about how today’s update may affect your plan or your services with us, please don’t hesitate to reach out.
