We Raised Cups — and Cash — for Cancer Council
Every year, thousands of workplaces, community groups, and care providers across Australia stop for a cuppa and a cause — and in May 2026, Help at Hand Support Services (HAHS) was proud to be one of them. Our team gathered for Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea, raised funds for Cancer Council, and — if we’re being completely honest — got a little competitive along the way.
Whether you know us as an NDIS provider, a support coordination service, or just as the team on 1300 822 190 — this is the story of how we gave back, shared some laughs, and rallied behind one of Australia’s most important causes.
Why Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea Matters
The statistics behind this event are sobering. Almost 1 in 2 Australians will be diagnosed with cancer before the age of 85 — meaning it’s not a question of whether cancer touches your life, but when. That reality sits close to home for many people in the disability and aged care sectors, where the participants and families we support are often navigating health challenges of their own.
Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea is Cancer Council’s largest annual fundraising event, bringing together workplaces, schools, sporting clubs, and community organisations every May. In 2026, over 19,500 registered hosts raised more than $3.3 million nationally — funds that go directly toward cancer research, prevention programs, and support services for those going through treatment
“Every cup of tea poured is a step closer to a cancer-free future. That’s a cause we’re proud to get behind.”
How the Day Went Down at HAHS
Our morning tea was everything you’d want from a team event: good food, great company, and a healthy dose of friendly competition. Here’s the rundown:
Community Care Is What We Do Every Day
At Help at Hand Support Services, we know that health and wellbeing aren’t separate from disability support — they’re at the heart of it. Many of the NDIS participants we support live with complex health conditions, and many of their families have been touched by cancer, chronic illness, and the kind of diagnosis that changes everything overnight.
That’s why events like this matter to us beyond the fun. When we raise money for Cancer Council, we’re raising money for research that may one day benefit the very people we support. When we talk about community care, this is what we mean — showing up for the causes that affect our participants, their families, and our broader community.
As a registered NDIS provider based in Bundoora and operating across Melbourne’s northern suburbs, HAHS delivers:
• Support Coordination — helping NDIS participants navigate their plans and connect with the right services
• Daily Living Supports — personal care, community access, and in-home assistance
• Plan Management — through our iDEAL Plan Management service
• Specialist Disability Accommodation — and supported independent living options
“For our team, community care isn’t a phrase on a website — it’s what happens when we show up, brew the tea, and give back.”
Looking for NDIS Support in Melbourne’s North?
If you or someone you love is living with a disability and you’re trying to make sense of the NDIS, we’d love to help. HAHS supports participants across Melbourne’s northern suburbs, including Bundoora, Whittlesea, Epping, Mill Park, South Morang, Mernda, Doreen, and surrounding areas.
We work with participants across a wide range of disability types including physical disability, intellectual disability, autism spectrum disorder (ASD), acquired brain injury (ABI), psychosocial disability, and complex support needs.
Our team can help you with:
• Understanding your NDIS plan and how to use your funding
• Connecting with the right support workers and providers
• Managing your NDIS budget and invoices through plan management
• Navigating plan reviews, goal setting, and getting the most from your supports
We’re a small, local team — and that’s deliberate. When you call HAHS, you speak to someone who knows your name, your situation, and your goals. That’s not something you get from every NDIS provider.
Next Year, We’re Going Bigger
To our team: thank you for making this year’s morning tea something special. The quiz heat, the teacup drama, the cakes, the laughs — and most importantly, the generosity that went into every donation. You’re why this organisation is what it is.
And to anyone reading this who’s been touched by cancer — whether personally or through someone you love — we see you. Events like Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea exist because your experience matters, and because the research funded by every cup of tea brings us all one step closer to better outcomes.
We’ll be back next year, Bayden will probably win the quiz again, and we’ll try to stump everyone harder on the teacups.
