Help at Hand Support Services recently attended the Frankston Community Disability Expo, hosted by Disability Events Community.

The event held on 27 May 2026 at the Frankston Arts Centre marked another exciting chapter in our ongoing journey to connect with communities across Victoria, meet participants face to face, and share what Help at Hand Support Services can offer to people living with disability.

The skies weren’t exactly kind to us on the way down — a rainy Victorian day greeted us as we made the journey to Frankston — but if the Pakenham expo taught us anything, it’s that a bit of rain never dampens a great community event. And this one was no different. The turnout was fantastic, the energy was brilliant, and we walked away feeling genuinely proud to be part of such a vibrant, engaged community.

A Venue That Made an Impression

From the moment we arrived at the Frankston Arts Centre, it was clear this was a venue with real character. The Arts Centre is a beautiful, purpose-built cultural landmark — a proper theatre complex with everything you’d expect from a premier arts precinct. It set an impressive backdrop for an equally impressive event, giving the expo a sense of occasion that participants, providers and families alike could really feel.

The space was well laid out, welcoming, and gave the day a professional polish that matched the high quality of the event itself. Kudos to the DEC team for selecting such a standout venue.

Coffee, Courtesy of VMCH

A special thank you to VMCH for once again stepping up as coffee sponsors on the day. If you were at the Pakenham expo, you’ll know how much a good coffee station adds to the atmosphere — and Frankston was no exception. It kept the conversations flowing, the energy up, and gave everyone a natural reason to stop, connect and chat. A small but genuinely appreciated touch..

A Fantastic Turnout

Despite the rain, the people came — and they came in numbers. The diversity of attendees was one of the standout features of the day: participants and their families, referral partners, support coordinators, providers from across the sector, and representatives from the NDIS itself all made the journey to Frankston.

Speaking of making the journey — a special mention to one of the NDIS team members who drove all the way from Geelong to be there. That kind of dedication speaks volumes about the commitment within the sector, and it was wonderful to see the NDIS so actively present and engaged on the day

A Great Vibe and Plenty of Good Conversations

The energy throughout the day was genuinely positive. There were lots of questions, lots of laughter, and no shortage of meaningful conversations happening at every turn.

What stood out most for our team was the feedback we received directly from participants. People came up to our stand to tell us how much it meant to them to actually be able to attend an event like this and speak with us in person. Face-to-face connection is something that simply can’t be replicated online, and moments

Support Coordinators Saying the Nicest Things

We have to share this — support coordinators at the event approached us to provide unsolicited testimonials about the work our team does for their clients. That kind of unprompted feedback is worth more than any award or accolade. It tells us that the people who work alongside our participants every day trust us, value us, and see the difference we’re making in people’s lives.

To every support coordinator who took the time to share their kind words — thank you. It genuinely means the world to our team.
